Two API champions have stepped up in a big way at the IAAF World Championships
in Doha, Qatar. Rushell Clayton (400m hurdles - Jamaica) and Kirani James (400m - Grenada) are poised to end their season in storybook fashion - both in medal contention for the finals of their events.
The finals of the Women's 400mh will be contested at 21:30 (Doha time) on Friday evening. Clayton who won both her heats in the Heats and Semi-finals, is the API champion in the event for the past two years. She's ran both of her preliminary rounds "to win", and is seeded with the third fastest time heading into the finals.
Kirani James hasn't had much of a season this year. In his opening race of the championships he signaled his intentions winning in a time of 44.94. He was second to Steven Gardiner of the Bahamas in the semi-finals - clocking a season's best of 44.23. The API record holder and 2018 Champion will get in the blocks at 22:20 (Doha time).
